Reflection for April 14, 2013
Third Sunday of Easter

First Reading: Acts 5:27-32, 40b-41
Second Reading: Rv 5:11-14
Gospel: John 21:1-9

Reflection
Peter is obviously a dominant figure in today’s Gospel reading.  Strong as he was, he also exemplified the virtue of humility.  Though an experienced fisherman who had already labored all night, Peter accepted the suggestion of a stranger to “cast the net over the right side of the boat.”  Later, Peter once again responded to the word of another when John voiced his recognition, saying, “It is the Lord!”
Prayer
Gracious God, I thank you for the wisdom offered me by my companions on the journey. May I recognize your inspiration in their sharing, and exclaim with Peter, “It is the Lord!”
